Doesn't work with IntelliJ 8, unless I'm missing some way to enable it beyond installing it (and the English Dictionary) and making sure it's checked as enabled.

I have tested SpellChecker from 9.0M1 version in 8.1.3 and it works:)
This plugin now is ported into IntelliJ IDEA 9 (Maia, EAP). So, i guess this version in this repository will not updated anymore. I'm recomend you to use IDEA 9 if you wait for updates for this plugin.

It doesn't work with IDEA 8.1.2. Nothing is being highlighted.
I have this version installed, not the version that your point to in your URL.
2osbald: I checked the problem and it seems like it's not trivial to fix. Requires some more digging then I have spare time. Sources are available so may try to fix it as well. It's quite simple.
Long time IDEA and spell checker plugin user just tried it under my expiring 8.0 trial (checking if 8.0 is worth an upgrade).
Saddened to see this doesn't work very well under 8.x. It isn't highlighting errors in code anymore. No highlights for misspelt variable/method names nor string literals, nothing happening for in normal nor Javadoc comments either. Makes the plugin pretty useless as is.
What happened to the update? its mid-March as I type.

I would really like to see the "JavaDoc" issue fixed. Is there any workaround or configuration change to resolve it ? It is very important to be able to spell check the javadocs.

"Spell Checker works fine with 8th IDEA. Plugin you are referring is here http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?id=25"
You can't assume that this person is referring to a different plugin just because they say they had a problem with this plugin and you don't.
I am using this plugin "Spell Checker" by Sergiy Dubovik and Alexey Efimov also, with IDEA 8.0.1 and it does not check spelling in JavaDocs for me.
Are you saying you've tested and confirmed that it does check spelling in JavaDocs in IDEA 8.0.1?
